Our Story

Brave Bodies was born in 2023 from a shared vision between us, Ruan and Tarryn, a husband-and-wife physiotherapy team with a story that spans continents. Our journey has taken us from South Africa, where we witnessed first-hand the deep impact of poverty on children's health, to volunteering in West Africa at Guinea's first Paediatric Hospital, and working alongside the Yolngu people in remote Arnhem Land.

These experiences shaped everything we believe about children's healthcare, that access to expert, compassionate support shouldn't depend on where you live or what resources your family has. When we fell in love with the South West of WA and made it our home, we quickly noticed a gap in specialised paediatric allied health services across the region. So we did what felt natural, we built something to fill it.

Brave Bodies exists because we believe, deeply and wholeheartedly, that every child from their earliest moments to young adulthood deserves the chance to thrive, achieve their dreams, and experience the joy of a fun-filled life. Whether your baby, child, or teen is facing challenges with movement, development, learning, play, or participation in everyday activities, we are here to walk alongside your family. This is our community now too, and supporting the families in it is a privilege we don't take lightly.

This is our community now too, and supporting the families in it is a privilege we don't take lightly.

Our Mission

To Support, Empower & Celebrate 🥳

Every child deserves the chance to discover what they're capable of.

That belief is at the heart of everything we do at Brave Bodies.

We provide evidence-based Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for children and young people aged 0–18, within a family-centred framework built on warmth, hope, and genuine partnership.

But for us, it's about more than therapy.

It's about celebrating every small win, building confidence one session at a time, and walking alongside families through what can sometimes feel like an overwhelming journey.

We want every child who comes through our doors, or whose home or school we visit, to feel safe, seen, and supported.

And we want every parent to feel heard.

There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children." - Nelson Mandela
